The third phase of Wuhan’s Metro Line 8 has been completed and was opened to the public on Nov 6, connecting with the athletes village for the 7th CISM Military World Games, according to the Changjiang Daily.

The third phase, some 4.84 kilometers in length, has three stops. The three stops will take around seven minutes and there is a metro train running on Line 8 every nine minutes. Passengers can transfer to Line 8 at Yezhi Lake station from Line 7.

With the opening of the third phase of Line 8, the total mileage of Wuhan Metro has increased to 339 kilometers, and the number of stations has reached 228.

The launch day of the third phase sparked strong ticket sales, as it is the only metro line arriving at the athletes village for the 7th CISM Military World Games.

A core part of the games, the village consists of four sections: a residential area, a public area, a logistics area and an operations section. A wide range of service facilities such as medical centers, fitness clubs, banks, convenience stores and souvenir shops, can be found in the village.

The village is also equipped with free WIFI, smart power systems and boasts an entrance security system using face identification technology. It can accommodate 10,000 residents.
