Some 40 key projects worth 110 billion yuan ($15.54 billion) are to settle in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone -- also known as the WHDZ -- according to details released at a promotions event held in the city of Wuhan, in central Hubei province, on Sept 22.
The projects are expected to facilitate the transformation and upgrading of the WHDZ and boost regional economic growth.
Officials said they cover areas including intelligent networks, next-generation information technology, new energy and new materials, inspections and testing, technology incubation and artificial intelligence,
In addition, the promotional event saw the signing of 20 talent recruitment projects.
The WHDZ, considered as China’s automobile hub, plays a key role in the industrial and economic development of Wuhan.
The zone reported 1.05 million in new car sales in 2018, and the regional GDP was valued at 166 billion yuan.
The WHDZ ranked first last year in the central western region of China and 12th nationwide, in an evaluation of national-level development zones conducted by the Ministry of Commerce.
Officials said the zone is making great efforts to promote the development of a “new generation” automobile industry involving core auto parts, R&D and design, intelligent connections and new energy.
