In the first nine months of 2019, the cumulative sales of Wuhan-based Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co hit 562,422 units, representing year-on-year growth of 25.2 percent, according to data released on the WeChat account of Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone.
In terms of single-month results, Dongfeng Honda sold a total of 72,522 new cars in September, a 6.8 percent increase on the previous year.
Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co is an automobile manufacturing company headquartered in Wuhan, in central Hubei province, and a 50:50 joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Group and Honda Motor Company.
The company was established on July 16, 2003, with registered capital of $250 million.
The group’s auto factory covers an area of 760,000 square meters, including 219,000 sq m of floor space.
A company spokesman said that this year Dongfeng Honda successively updated its two main CIVIC and XR-V models and launched the new ENVIX sedan and ELYSION hybrid models to expand the choice of its customers.
The spokesman said Dongfeng Honda will also apply its manufacturing expertise to new energy products. It is expected to launch its first pure electric SUV model, the CIMO X-NV, this year.
The new car will be based on the Dongfeng Honda XR-V and is positioned as a small SUV. The company said that in design, the CIMO X-NV will continue the XR-V overall design, redesigned in detail, adding blue elements to highlight its new energy product identity.
In addition, the new car will be equipped with an engine with a maximum power of 120 kW and will be equipped with a ternary lithium-ion battery, with a total cruising range of 401 kilometers.
