The Main Media Center located in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone will be the working headquarters for a huge contingent of journalists and broadcasters covering the 7th CISM Military World Games on Oct 18-27, local officials said.
Over 10,000 athletes from 100 countries are set to participate in the games, to be held in the city of Wuhan, in central China’s Hubei province.
The main media center has two floors underground and four floors above ground, with a total construction area of 23,000 square meters. The first and second floors above ground are the Main Press Center, or MPC and the third and fourth floors are the International Broadcasting Center.
The MPC mainly serves news reports and photojournalism, and the international center mainly serves television media, officials said.
In the media work room on the first floor of the MMC, 350 workstations have installed. Officials said that a total of 240 text reporters and 96 photojournalists can work there at the same time. The property management staff monitors and handles security 24 hours a day.
Photography and video equipment can be rented at the media workshop service desk.
The results of each competition will be printed out and put on a notice wall for journalists to refer to. Each reporter’s station has a power outlet, a broadband interface and a multi-channel audio system interface for viewing live events on a display screen placed on the wall.
In the International Broadcasting Center’s control center, display screens have been placed. The audio and video signals of more than 30 competition venues will be gathered here, to integrate and distribute signals.
Officials said Chinese television network CCTV set up a live broadcast area covering 2,899 sq m at the international center, including four large studios, production areas and office areas.
The CCTV sports channel, a military channel, general channel, news channel and a foreign language channel will directly record programs here, as well as carry out 24-hour rolling coverage.
