Dongfeng Motor Co launched a total of 36 intelligent networked vehicles on Oct 15 -- demonstrating various applications scenarios including intelligent traveling, logistics and distribution, according to officials.

The automatic driving vehicles are now officially in operation in the National Intelligent Networked Automotive (Wuhan) Test and Demonstration Zone.

Officials said that at present, there are many intelligent networked vehicle demonstration zones across China, each with their own distinctive characteristics.

The National Intelligent Networked Automobile (Wuhan) Test and Demonstration Zone, located in Junshan Street in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone – commonly known as the WHDZ -- is the only demonstration zone for multi-scenario smart car applications.

Tang Teng, deputy general manager of Dongfeng's strategic planning department, said that the intelligent networked car has become a national strategy.

Dongfeng has completed the development of 36 intelligent networked cars in more than three months, thanks to efforts made by 200 engineers.
