HIT Robot sets up research institute in WHDZ

An unveiling ceremony for the Wuhan Branch and Wuhan International Innovation Research Center of HIT Robot Group was held in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on Sept 23.

Officials such as Wang Yang, deputy director of the administrative office of WHDZ, Wang Fei, chairman of HIT Robot Group, and Sun Lining, deputy director of one of the group’s national key laboratories, delivered speeches at the ceremony.

HIT Robot Group signed a cooperation agreement with the WHDZ in September 2018 to set up the Wuhan Branch and the Wuhan International Innovation Research Center in the zone. The branch will be responsible for industrial incubation, while the research center will focus on research and development in aeronautics, astronautics, automobiles, ships, smart robots, and robot education.

According to Wang Fei, the group has made significant achievements in the integrated development of smart factories, and robots having been applied in a wide range of sectors, including industrial manufacturing, commercial services, culture and tourism, healthcare, and rehabilitation.

The new institutes in Wuhan will help accelerate the WHDZ’s industrial development and boost Wuhan’s economic development, he added.

During the ceremony, 7 companies in the robot industrial chain also signed agreements to operate in the WHDZ. This brought nearly 100 new R&D workers to the zone.
