The governor of Gelderland, a province of the Netherlands, visited the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on Sept 23.
He met with officials from Wuhan and Hubei provincial governments to discuss how to facilitate bilateral communications and deepen cooperation.
Zhang Dehua, a senior WHDZ official, briefed the Dutch delegation on the zone’s economic and social development with hopes that the two sides could cooperate in sci-tech innovation, clean energy, and environmental protection.
He promised that the local government would offer an attractive business environment, services, and policies.
The Dutch governor was overwhelmed by the hospitality of the officials. He talked about Gelderland’s transnational businesses, sci-tech innovation achievements, food, and tourism industry with the hope of forming a partnership with the WHDZ.
The governor also visited several high-tech companies operating in the WHDZ in search of more cooperation opportunities.
Gelderland and Hubei signed an agreement to be sister provinces on April 24, 2006, and since then, the two sides have been cooperating in industry, agriculture, education, and trade.
