China’s first motor racing academy opened at Jianghan University in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on Sept 17.
A total of 48 students from Hubei and Guangdong provinces were admitted to the academy.
The academy was founded and will be jointly managed by Jianghan University, the WHDZ, the sports bureau of Wuhan, and the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China’s General Administration of Sports.
According to authorities, the academy’s main focus will be teaching undergraduates, but there will also be programs for junior college and postgraduate students. A total of 3,000 students are expected to enroll.
The academy has two majors: social sports instruction and management, and automobile service engineering.
During the launch ceremony, the academy signed cooperation agreements with 26 companies from around the country to cultivate high-skilled workers for the motor racing industry.
