It also boasts the most intelligent assembly line for external air conditioner units in the world. The Midea Wuhan factory produces an external air conditioner unit every 18 seconds.
A group of high-tech industrial parks are forming new landmarks in the zone and have attracted innovative companies, such as internet search engine giant Baidu and Nvidia, a specialist in artificial intelligence.
“It used to be a paddy field when I came here for the first time and now an aviation town has been formed,” said John Grubbstrom, honorary president of the International Air Sport Federation, during the Second World Fly-in Expo held in WHDZ in May.
“I’m shocked by the fast growth of the city,” he added.
With its advanced development, the zone has hosted a slew of world-class events, such as the World Fly-in Expo and the Badminton Asia Championships.
The 2019 Military World Games will also be held in the zone in October, with an assortment of cutting-edged technology in support -- such as the artificial intelligence, a 5G network and the internet of things.
