The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) has achieved some initial success in promoting rural development, according to a work conference on Aug 7.

The local government is currently working on a plan for land use, public services, environmental protection, industrial development, and infrastructure construction in rural areas.

A total of 40 public toilets have been renovated or newly-built and new refuse transfer stations have begun operating.

The local government also launched sewage treatment projects in four villages, which are expected to be completed by September. Similar projects will later be carried out in another two villages.

A total of 17 infrastructure projects are currently underway, attracting 142 million yuan ($20.22 million) in investment.
