Updated: 2019-08-02

Fourteen companies in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, were listed among the "top 100 private enterprises in Wuhan in 2019", which was released by the city's association of industry and commerce on July 29.

A list of the "top 50 private manufacturing enterprises in Wuhan in 2019" was also announced, with eight WHDZ companies making the list.

The 14 WHDZ companies are involved mainly in auto parts, construction, home appliances, grain and oil, medicine, and new materials.

One of the companies achieved an annual sales revenue of 7.5 billion yuan ($1.08 billion) in 2018.

Over the past 28 years, the WHDZ has been home to a number of esteemed private enterprises, including Hubei Dongjun Industrial Group, Wuhan Changli Glass Co Ltd, and Hubei Dinglong Holdings.

Data in 2018 revealed that the zone now has more than 10,000 private firms, which contribute 23 percent of its GDP.

The WHDZ is now looking to attract more investment and professionals. It has held two symposiums to help private entrepreneurs tackle development problems and to offer them other forms of support.

The WHDZ will continue to improve its business environment for companies, according to a director of the zone.
