A football competition was held at the football park in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, on July 21.

The event was hosted by the zone's labor union and organized by the Wuhan Sports Center for WHDZ staff.

Attendees of the event included Yang Jianxue, deputy director of the Wuhan sports administration, Peng Hao, director of the management committee of WHDZ, and representatives from the Wuhan Sports Center and companies in the zone.

More than 1,500 people from 50 companies, including Dongfeng Honda Automobile, Dongfeng Motor Corporation Passenger Vehicle Company, and Hutchison (Wuhan) Automotive Rubber Company, participated in the competitions.

This year, WHDZ was hailed as a "national demonstration center for the sports industry" by the General Administration of Sport of China. This speaks to the zone's achievements in hosting sporting events and its successful development of sports tourism.

The football competition was meant to welcome the upcoming 7th Military World Games, which will take place in Wuhan from Oct 18 to 27 and whose opening and closing ceremonies, as well as several competitions, will be held in the WHDZ.
