Updated: 2019-07-17

The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, held an oath-taking meeting on July 10 to mark the beginning of the 100-day countdown to the 7th Military World Games.

A total of 350 people took part in the meeting, promising to do their best to serve the event, which will be held in Wuhan from Oct 18 to 27.

The 7th Military World Games is the highest-level event that Wuhan has ever hosted.

The event's opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the WHDZ, which will be responsible for organizing eight competitions. The main media center for the event is also located in the zone.

In October, more than 1,000 judges, coaches, and athletes, over 3,000 media workers, and nearly 100,000 visitors from all over the world are expected to come participate in the event.

The zone has been thoroughly preparing for the event by building and renovating venues and organizing staff members and test events.

The zone is also focusing on improving the environment. It has already rebuilt 48 roads, added 1.16 million square meters of green area, planted 30,000 trees, and renovated 2,660 buildings.

Peng Hao, director of the administrative committee of the WHDZ, encouraged everyone to help ensure the success of the event in October, and to help improve the natural and cultural environment in the zone.

The zone hopes to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with some outstanding achievements, added Peng.
