The park is the first comprehensive one in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (Hannan), referred to as the WHDZ.

Located in No.1 Xinghua Road, it has a land area of nearly 200,000 square meters and water area of 160,000 sq m.

Green space accounts for 94.5 percent of the whole park, at 34.2 sq m, or 98.8 percent if the water area is included.

Construction of the park started in November 1998 and finished in 2004 when the park was opened free to locals.

It is comprised of classic architecture with Chu-and Han-dynasty features and several of Hubei's local plants.

Garden architecture, sightseeing, leisure and entertainment are integrated in the park, giving it a green and ecological culture.

The park's garden architecture includes a Chu Garden, Gaoshangliushui, a Furong Garden (hibiscus), the Siyi Pavilion and a long corridor.

Cottonrose hibiscus is the park flower. Furong Garden, next to the lake in the eastern park, provides a great view.

The wide lake is surrounded by lush vegetation which creates different but marvelous landscapes in four seasons, like a green pearl of the WHDZ.

A renovation of the park was carried out in 2013, including adding colored-leaf trees, flowering shrubs and greenways and dredging the lake.

A worker culture activity center was set up in early 2015 with a theater, an art museum, and a library, enlarging the park to nearly 460,000 sq m.

The second-phase renovation of the park started in the second half of 2015, mainly to improve its scenic spots, flower gardens and guide system.

The park is important for locals in providing cultural and leisure times on weekends.
