Zhu Yanfeng, chairman of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, a company based at the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, delivered a lecture about automobile at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in the city, on June 27.
Li Yuanyuan, president of the university, attended and addressed the lecture, and Liang Qian, vice-president of the university, presided over the event.
Since 2012, the country has paid great attention to the development of manufacturing and automobile industries, and in May 2014, China started laying emphasis on new energy vehicle development and technological innovation in the auto sector.
Zhu delivered the lecture from three aspects, namely what automobile is, China's automobile industrial development and the China Dream, and Dongfeng Motor's efforts in building a world-class auto company.
Zhu said that the automobile industry manifests a country's advanced technologies, representing a pillar industry in the country's social and economic growth.
He introduced the basic information of Dongfeng Motor to attending guests and students, saying that Dongfeng Motor came from the former China Second Automobile Works that was established in 1969, and up to now, the company has manufactured more than 45 million cars.
In 2018, Dongfeng Motor manufactured and sold 3.83 million cars, ranking second in China's automobile sector, Zhu added.
Li Yuanyuan asked Zhu how the university's students can join Dongfeng. Zhu gave students suggestions of –– being diligent, open, and laying emphasis on knowledge accumulation, management and sharing, as well as learning the newest skills and software.
Zhu also answered students' questions about the company, automatic driving, and cooperation between companies.
