WHDZ signs 10 projects valued at $19.63 bn

A signing ceremony for key projects was held at the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, on June 27.

A total of 10 cooperation agreements were signed between companies and WHDZ, representing an investment totaling 135 billion yuan ($19.63 billion) and covering areas such as new-generation automobiles, new energy, cultural tourism, innovation and modern agriculture.

People attending the ceremony included Sun Hongbin, chairman of the board of directors of Sunac China Holdings Limited; Chen Kangren, president of China Auto Parts and Accessories Corp; Peng Hao, director of the administrative committee of WHDZ, and other company representatives.

Addressing the ceremony, Peng said that the 10 projects would greatly boost the zone's high-quality development.

According to agreements, Sunac China will build a smart eco-city and cultural tourism projects in WHDZ, including high-end business areas, intelligent manufacturing industrial areas, research centers and eco-tourism areas.

Construction of Sunac's project will take five years and, following completion, is expected to offer over 100,000 job opportunities.

The China Auto Parts and Accessories Corp will build an electric and intelligent automobile project in WHDZ, which includes an auto parts manufacturing base, a technological innovation center, an automobile trade center and an automobile cultural exhibition center.

The project will power WHDZ in building a world-famous automobile hub.

In addition, more projects will also be built in the zone, including a modern agricultural project and a semiconductor project.

In recent years, besides the automobile sector, WHDZ has been focusing on development of four other key industries –– the AI industry, the robotics industry, the smart home industry and the general aviation industry.

From January to May this year, WHDZ signed 41 key projects valued at 82 billion yuan.
