Agreements on a total of 11 projects worth 26.09 billion yuan ($3.78 billion) were signed in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, on May 18.

The signing ceremony was held before the opening ceremony for the World Fly-in Expo (WFE), which is underway at the zone's Hannan General Aviation Airport until May 21.

The 11 projects involve the aviation sector, new energy vehicles, 5G technology, high-end manufacturing, and shared transportation.

Huabin Aviation Technology (Tianjin) Co Ltd plans to invest 500 million into the WHDZ to build its Wuhan base, which will provide services such as aircraft and engine maintenance, aircraft demolition and modification, and business aircraft trusteeships.

As a national vehicle hub, the WHDZ is also striving to develop its general aviation, smart home, robotics, and artificial intelligence industries.

Since hosting the first WFE in November 2017, the zone has attracted 13 aviation projects worth a total of 31.7 billion yuan, helping boost its general aviation sector.

In the future, WHDZ plans to continue attracting investment in the aviation industry, especially for projects related to aircraft, drones, key components, and general satellites.
