Wuhan Sports Center

Updated: 2019-05-17

To date, the center has organized or hosted over 400 large-sized sports competitions from 18 tournaments, including the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup, the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship for Men and the 2015 Asian Athletic Championship. These competitions have attracted nearly one million people to the center and created a brand value exceeding 5 billion yuan for different enterprises. The center has brought composite economic results of over 10 billion yuan to the city.

Since it officially opened to the public in January of 2008, the Wuhan Sports Center has been striving to be a space for public leisure and fitness and a first-class sports training center, and to provide every citizen with the benefits of its first-class equipment and good public service as an international level facility.

After seven-year's development, there are currently eight activities enjoying low-cost  or free access to the center's venues, including football, basketball, badminton and swimming.

The center organizes five major group events -- football, badminton, basketball, table tennis, and swimming -- for the staff of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (Hannan) (often referred to as WHDZ) every year.

In 2015, the center provided 48,200 free or low-cost swimming visits and raised the membership of its public fitness club to over 9,600 people. Over 200,000 physical training attendances occur at the center every year.

To inject vigor into its  long-term development, the center accelerated R&D and construction of ancillary  services for the cultural and sports industry.
