The Second World Fly-in Expo (WFE) is scheduled to be held at the Hannan General Aviation Airport in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, from May 18 to 21, according to a press conference held on April 25.
This will be the second time the airport, located in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), has hosted the event. It also hosted the first session in November 2017.
The four-day event will be co-hosted by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, the Aero Sports Federation of China, the government of Wuhan, and the Hubei Administration of Sports. It will be organized by the WHDZ administrative committee and the Wuhan Sports Bureau.
The 2017 WFE was a huge success, as more than 100 billion yuan ($14.86 billion) in cooperation agreements were signed and more than 1 billion people followed the event.
The opening ceremony for this year's event will be held on May 18, but is subject to change based on weather conditions.
The event is divided into five sections, which will include seven aerobatic flights, two aviation competitions, eight experiential activities, two exhibitions, and four forums.
A total of 560 aircraft will be featured in the expo, of which 260 will perform flights, 200 will participate in competitions, and 100 will be put on display.
Around 700 pilots, sportsmen, instructors, judges, and other professionals from all over the world will participate in the expo.
The ticket price has been lowered compared with in 2017. It is now 200 yuan for one adult, 380 yuan for two adults and 560 yuan for three adults.
Since hosting the first WFE in 2017, 13 aviation projects worth 31.7 billion yuan have been carried out in the zone, helping boost its general aviation sector.
In the future, WHDZ plans to continue attracting aviation investment, especially for projects related to aircraft, drones, key components, and general satellites. Its goal is to become China's general aviation industrial hub.
