Located in Tanghu Park's staff cultural activity center of the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), Tanghu Theater is the city's first public cultural venue to integrate theater, a museum of art, and a library.
The theater covers an area of 73,600 square meters, and has an investment of 150 million yuan ($21.8 million). It adopts a traditional Chinese roof structure and has an antique decorative theme on the stage and in the audience hall. With red fences painted by craftsman, the theater showcases the charm of traditional Chinese architecture.
The stage is 16.5 meters deep, 6.5 meters high and 13 meters wide. The four dressing rooms can accommodate 40 artists and the auditorium can hold 500 people. With modern lighting and sound, the theater can also be used for performances including Beijing opera, Hanchu opera, and folk arts, drama, and child's play.
