The first phase of the third plant of Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co Ltd is expected to go into production in April, according to local news reports.
Construction work on the project is basically completed and the plant has started trial operations.
Located in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, construction work on the third plant of Dongfeng Honda Automobile started in December 2016, and includes two phases covering areas measuring 1,475 mu (98.3 hectares).
It is expected that the first phase will go into production in April, with an annual production capacity of 120,000 vehicles, and the second phase will go into production in 2020, with capacity for another 120,000.
Following completion, the first phase of the third plant of Dongfeng Honda Automobile will have around 1,800 employees and produce vehicles such as the CR-V, ELYISON, and UR-V.
The third plant will also produce new energy vehicles in the future.
