An unmanned police office which uses artificial intelligence technology was unveiled at Jianghan University in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, on Dec 28, 2018.

The new facility was launched by Wuhan public security bureau and supported by Jianghan University, offering 24-hour services for local residents.

It is able to offer services such as handling the paperwork related to traffic violations and applications for ID cards. Visitors can gain entry to the new office using either their national ID cards or via having their face scanned using facial recognition technology.

In addition, express delivery lockers have been installed at the office, enabling teachers and students to get packages.

In the future, the public security department in WHDZ plans to improve the services on offer and install more such facilities across the zone.
