Dongfeng joins new auto tech platform

Dongfeng Motor Corporation, a company based at Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central Chinas Hubei province, signed a cooperation agreement with China South Industries Group and China FAW Group Corporation in Beijing, on Dec 21, to set up a T3 technology platform.

The new platform will focus on R&D of next-generation automobiles, such as new energy vehicles and intelligent networked vehicles.

Attendees at the signing ceremony included Xu Ping, president of China South Industries Group, Xu Liuping, president of China FAW Group Corporation, and Zhu Yanfeng, president of Dongfeng Motor Corporation.

Over the past year, the firms have been promoting the benefits of working together.

The three first signed an agreement expressing their intentions to cooperate on Dec 1, 2017, before setting up a team to complete the groundwork for the establishment of the new platform on Dec 17.

China's auto sector is expected to undergo dramatic changes over the next five years, with the industry being upgraded and transformed. The new platform is expected to deliver a significant boost to the sector, raising profits and productivity.
