A group of nearly 100 representatives from media organizations in South China visited Dongfeng Honda Automobile, a company based at Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, on Nov 29.
They visited the second plant of the company, to learn about advanced manufacturing in the automobile sector.
Construction of the second plant began on Nov 5, 2010, and the plant was put into production on July 10, 2012. It currently has the ability to manufacture 256,000 vehicles annually, mainly producing five types of automobile, including the Civic, Jade, XR-V, Greiz, and Gienia.
Leading the country's automobile industry, Dongfeng Honda introduced industry-leading manufacturing equipment and techniques, such as industrial robots, automatic conveyor lines, and automated guided vehicles.
Intelligent manufacturing and digital management at the plant ensure the accuracy of production and high quality of products.
According to company representatives, the third plant of the company is under construction, with a focus on new energy vehicles.
It is expected that the first phase of the third plant will go into production in April 2019, with an annual production capacity of 120,000 vehicles, and the second phase will go into production in 2020, with capacity for another 120,000.
The group also visited the company's environment exhibition center and an automobile knowledge promotion base for teenagers, to learn about the firm's efforts to protect the environment.
