Updated: 2018-11-23

A delegation led by Hu Shuguang, chairman of Wuhan Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), Hubei province, on Nov 20, to learn about the development of the zone's private sector.

Municipal officials including Ni Zilin, secretary-general of Wuhan Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, He Min, deputy director of Wuhan municipal commission of transport, and Zhang Junhua, deputy director of Wuhan municipal water supplies bureau, participated in the visit.

The group visited Wuhan Changli Glass Co Ltd to learn about its reform, restructuring and innovation efforts.

The company has achieved rapid development in recent years, becoming an influential and highly-competitive modern enterprise.

Currently, it has the capacity to produce more than 1.5 million tons of high-grade float glass per year, and more than 23 million square meters of tempered LOW-E coated glass. It boasts a deep processing capacity of about 2 million sq m.

During the first 10 months of 2018, Changli Glass achieved a total sales income of 1.65 billion yuan ($238.1 million), a profit of 258 million yuan, and paid taxes of 154 million yuan.

Hu affirmed the company's achievements, highlighting the region's booming private sector.

Development of private companies in Wuhan is the basis of the city's stable economic growth, said Hu.

At a meeting following the visit, Hu stressed the importance of tackling problems in the development of the private economy, and said that the zone needed to offer support to promote the development of the private sector.
