The new plants will build three new production lines by the end of next year, and by 2020 the company’s output value is predicted to hit 11.4 billion yuan ($1.72 billion).
In April 2018, Dongfeng Electric Vehicle Company and Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited Company (CATL), the largest supplier of battery systems in the country, invested to form a new firm, Dongfeng Amperex, which aims to conduct research, as well as produce and sell motor battery systems for new energy vehicles.
The company’s plants all utilize MES management software technology, a digital system to help manufacturers arrange and supervise production, with products passing initial tests first time hitting 95 percent.
Laboratories in the new plants allow multiple projects to conduct tests and carry out research.
Dongfeng Electric Vehicle Company launched the Dongfeng new energy vehicle industrial park in 2017. The park is now a key project for promoting the development of the next-generation automobile industry in WHDZ, where efforts are being made to make the zone into a hub for new energy vehicles.
