The 2018 Badminton Asia Championships were held at Wuhan Sports Center in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (referred to as WHDZ, also known as Hannan), in Hubei's provincial capital Wuhan, from April 24 to 29.
Badminton players from more than 20 Asian countries participated in the event, including Lin Dan and Chen Long from China, Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia, and Kento Momota from Japan.
The finals of the championships were held on April 29.
China's Chen Long, also the defending champion, lost the men's singles to the Japanese player Kento Momota.
Chen Yufei from China lost the women's singles to Tai Tzu Ying from Chinese Taipei.
In the mixed doubles, Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping from China beat the 2016 Rio Olympic champions Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir from Indonesia.
In the men's doubles, Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen from China beat Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda from Japan.
