Government organs and State-owned enterprises in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), Hubei province, are ready to embrace a more efficient, paperless system of working.

A new office automation (OA) system went online at WHDZ on Jan 9. It is the first trans-department OA system for coordination in Hubei province.

With the system, civil servants at WHDZ can handle daily affairs like examining documents and assessing performance online, according to an official from the working committee of WHDZ.

He stressed that the system can be operated on computer terminals and mobile devices, which will help staff deal with issues quickly.

It will send out a warning to remind workers to quickly respond to unprocessed affairs, he added.

“The new system will liberate us from disorderly administrative procedures and improve efficiency greatly,” said a staff member on the working committee.

WHDZ has been carrying out reforms to improve government efficiency since last year. It organized research on the working procedures of 67 government departments in the region to improve integration during August 2017.

Peng Zhimin, a director from Hubei Academy of Sciences noted that the implementation of the office scheme was part of efforts by WHDZ to transform government functions and improve efficiency.
