

A delegation led by Wan Yong, mayor of Wuhan, held the 2017 Czech - Wuhan Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair & Wuhan General Aviation Industry Promotion Conference in Jihlava on May 10.
The event was attended by Wan's counterpart Rudolf Chloupek, and Blanka Bednářová, an official in charge of international and EU affairs at the Czech Republic's top transportation authority, as well as by Chen Jianjun, political counselor of the Chinese embassy.
Peng Hao, director of the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone administrative committee, chaired the promotion event in Jihlava on May 10.
After announcing the signing of a memorandum of understanding for sister city ties with Jihalava, Wan recalled the history of Wuhan's economic and trade cooperation with the Czech Republic, as well as with other European countries.
Wan also introduced the national strategy concerning the city's development and Wuhan's plans for local rejuvenation.
The two cities will communicate frequently on issues concerning exchange and cooperation, Chloupek said, adding that high-profile visits should be encouraged to deepen cooperation and promote exchanges on economy, trade, culture, education and tourism.
They will also exchange programs for youth and women organizations.
Chen said the embassy will serve as a bridge to promote bilateral communication and support the two cities' trade and economic cooperation.
Bednářová spoke highly of the achievements in trade and economic cooperation between China and the republic and expected more fruitful cooperation in future.
Wan appointed Wang Wanming, head of the Chinese Merchants Association in the Czech Republic, as an ambassador of investment promotion for Wuhan at the event.
