Wuhan Economics & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) held a commencement and signing ceremony of industrial projects on March 31. Twenty projects with a total investment of 6 billion yuan ($902 million) will settle in the zone's auto parts industrial park, with an expected annual output value of more than 10 billion yuan.
The 20 industrial projects include 17 parts-supply ventures for Dongfeng Honda, Peugeot Citroen Automobile, Dongfeng Motor Corporation Passenger Vehicle, Dongfeng Renault and General Motors.
Ten of the projects are under signature and in planning; they include seven auto parts production projects, two high-end equipment production projects and a packaging expansion project. The other ten projects have been constructed and consist of nine auto parts production projects and a central kitchen project with logistics.
To date, total output value of the WHDZ has reached 80 billion yuan. The 20 projects will inject vitality into the zone for establishing new intelligent manufacturing parks.
Officials attending the ceremony included Zhu Yi, member of the Wuhan municipal Party committee and secretary of the working committee of WHDZ, and Li Zhong, chief of the Hannan district.
Li said that the signing and construction of the 20 projects will create opportunities and a broad space for the district's development.
He noted that once the ten projects to be constructed have settled successfully the WHDZ will have more encouragement and passion; and even the beginning of their construction will offer more confidence and strength.
He said that he hopes the entrepreneurs will maintain entrepreneurial passion and confidence, striving to finish those projects with high standards, high efficiency, and high-quality.
Li required that the functional departments, especially the park, should always focus on the projects' construction and actively work to support their development and smooth progress. The region should focus on accelerating development and contributing more to the construction of upgraded demonstration bases of "economy, city development, and people's livelihoods".
The auto parts industrial park is located in Hannan Shamao Street in Wuhan, covering an area of 34.79 square kilometers with 269 enterprises. The park has three major industries, namely auto parts intelligent manufacturing, new energy and new materials, and high-end equipment manufacturing.
