Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) is bustling with energy as its holiday economy thrives, offering residents and visitors a dynamic mix of new business scenes and models.

This transformation is evident in the cultural and tourism sectors, which now feature everything from lively sports activities and captivating performances to cutting-edge educational experiences.

During the National Day holiday, WEDZ opened its sports venues at little or no cost, encouraging citizens to engage in a spirited blend of sports and leisure. The Wuhan Sports Center saw nearly 30,000 visitors, with swimming pools, badminton courts, and basketball arenas filled to capacity.

"After playing a match, I'm heading to a concert — balancing sports and entertainment!" said Wu, a university student. Following a friendly competition, Wu and friends joined over 8,000 fans at Yuan Yiqi's 2026 concert.

This integration of fitness, entertainment, and commerce is fueling a surge in consumer activity at the Wuhan Sports Center and surrounding shopping areas. On concert day, Wanda Plaza collaborated with Yuan Yiqi's official fan club for an event, drawing nearly 70,000 visitors.

Local music venue Elephant Folk's new branch at Wuhan Sports Center also welcomed more than 4,000 guests over the holiday.

WEDZ launched three themed routes under the "industry + culture tourism" initiative in September, featuring intelligent manufacturing, digital applications, and low-altitude sightseeing.

These routes connect major enterprises such as Voyah and M-Hero, turning industrial and technological environments into engaging, educational tourism experiences.
