A conference on brain-computer interface data and industry innovation was held on Sept 18 in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), unveiling two major innovation platforms and securing several projects.
Brain-computer interface (BCI) technology focuses on decoding brain activity to enable direct interaction between the human brain and external devices such as computers and mechanical apparatuses.
This technology holds vast potential across medical and human-machine interaction sectors.
The zone highlighted its Junshan Tongji medical engineering industrial park, which will focus on cutting-edge fields such as BCI, medical robotics, gene editing, and biomaterials.
Tongji Hospital signed cooperation agreements with Sunnyou Medical based in Henan province and Wuhan Yiruide Group.
"We plan to establish a BCI demonstration and clinical research center at Tongji Hospital," said He Haifeng, a representative from Sunnyou Medical. "We will deploy some of the most advanced equipment in these centers to collect clinical data and further optimize BCI technology."
WEDZ has been working to strengthen its five strategic emerging industries, including the health and biotechnology sectors. It has attracted over 140 enterprises engaged in the field, including Hiteck, China Resources Pharmaceutical, and Ferguson Medical, creating a comprehensive ecosystem encompassing research, production, and logistics in the biopharmaceutical and medical-engineering sectors.
