Hubei's first automotive industry export intellectual property (IP) protection alliance was launched on Sept 16 in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), aiming to support the province's automotive global expansion.
The alliance focuses on providing services such as overseas IP plan development, risk warning, and dispute resolution for companies along the entire industrial chain, including vehicle and component manufacturers, supply chains, and sensor companies.
The goal is to help these enterprises formulate global IP plans while enhancing the training of high-level IP professionals and building a provincial talent pool for international IP expertise, enabling more "Made in Hubei" products to enter and compete on the global stage.
WEDZ has been making efforts to become a leading IP hub, boasting nearly 3,500 invention patents in 2025, with the number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people doubling to 65, and cumulative IP pledge financing exceeding 10 billion yuan ($1.49 billion).
