The 2026 World Robot Conference kicked off in Beijing on Aug 19. At the central State-owned enterprises exhibition area, Dongfeng Motor Co showcased several advanced products, including the humanoid robot "Xiao Dong", the quadruped robot "Yuan Zai", the "Tianyuan" Embodied Brain, and its self-developed linear joint modules, highlighting the expansion of automotive technologies into the robotics field.
Drawing on its expertise in intelligent driving, automotive-grade chips, and large-scale models, Dongfeng has developed a "one brain, multiple bodies" embodied intelligence architecture. Its intelligent picking and distribution system for general assembly logistics robots has been recognized as one of the top 10 high-value robotic applications among central State-owned enterprises.
The humanoid robot "Xiao Dong" is being tested in operations like automotive manufacturing and material sorting, while the quadruped robot "Yuan Zai" features autonomous navigation and multimodal interaction capabilities, making it suitable for campus inspections and service scenarios. The company is also exploring how large-scale models can empower robots with autonomous understanding and task execution capabilities.
A key highlight of the conference was the linear joint module developed by Dongfeng’s Mach Power team. It integrates components like motors, screw rods, and sensors. This innovative module is compatible with various robotic platforms, enabling load-bearing and assembly tasks and ensuring core component independence.
