Chuju Opera performed in WHDZ to promote clean government

Updated: 2018-01-19

A Chuju Opera (popular in Hubei province and part of Jiangxi province) was performed in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), central China’s Hubei province, on Jan 16.

The opera was created by the Chuju Opera troupe in Xinzhou District, Wuhan. It is based on a story from the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220).

In the story, Yang Xu, a prefecture chief, is bribed with a fish. Yang cannot refuse and hangs it on a door to warn others that bribery is forbidden.

The performance promotes not only Chuju Opera culture, but also clean government in the zone.
