18 projects worth 21.72b yuan to be constructed in WHDZ

Wuhan held a commencement ceremony for investment invitation projects on Dec 6 at the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ). 

Construction of eighteen projects with a total investment of 21.72 billion yuan ($3.28 billion) will begin in the zone; some of the projects, such as Central China Intelligence Valley (Phase II), the Smart Eco-city Innovation Service Center and the Central China R&D Base of Shanghai-Fanuc Robotics, will be in emerging industries.

The projects are to cover both the traditional automobile industry and new energy vehicles, smart manufacturing, city integrated services, and ecotourism industries. The rapid emergence of these industries will be a new driving force for the district's economic growth.

To date, the district has signed 110 projects, each worth over 100 million yuan, to the combined tune of 454.3 billion yuan, accounting for one fifth of the city's economic activity. Forty-six projects in smart manufacturing, new fuel-cell energy and general aviation have been launched.

Central China Intelligence Valley is expected to introduce 500 cultural industries and enterprises to Wuhan in the next ten years, while the Smart Eco-city Innovation Service Center will focus on serving industrial parks for the internet of vehicles, new energy vehicles, new materials and information technology.

Officials attending the ceremony included Wang Weiguo, director of the Hannan district People's Congress Standing Committee, Peng Xuning, chairman of the Hannan district committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Chen Changfei, Li Lin, Zhang Dehua, Yi Shanwei, and Xiao Xiaopeng, leaders of the district.
